ohh, aaawesome. jeje. i had the gradient but it just stayed the same. then i tried ungrouping, and it seems that was what allowed it to reflect… i think. thanks for your help Clay!
Because there was a top to bottom gradient on the object before I cut it. That make the two new shapes have the same gradient but they are relative to their own shape. Instant chrome effect.
love tutorial. @ 8 minutes with the text shapes, why does using the knife give that chrome effect? when i cut it, it just… makes a cut no chrome.. :s
Could this tutorial be more AWESOME?
Great Job! I understood pretty much what you did. I’ve been using Illustrator for about 2 years inconsistently. I’ve been using PS since the first version!
Oh to be addicted to photoshop. Slowly I break the habit. Thanks for this demonstration, it’s encouraging.
Thanks! I just try to explain things the way I’d like them explained to me.
hey, i have seen many many videos on youtube on this subject, and you are by far the best teacher, your easy to listen too, very likalbe, on top of that talented… plus you exlpain it well, i am a fan of yours from now on!
And that’s why the abuse of effects comes in i gues…you are right

It is a lot to learn if you are new to Illustrator. But you aren’t so it’s just review for you. But if you were addicted to Photoshop like most young designer are, it would blow your mind to see what you’ve been missing by avoiding Illustrator.
i can prety mutch make this but maybe the chrome cut effect, on only one text object with the illustrator effects and so you could then change the word for any other words without any concern of re doin all those steps… its a realy beginer tutorial… i was expecting more from the intro saying its alot to learn
Very very good tutorial indeed, you should do more, cheers
