After graduating I spent 7 months working for a small non-profit company as an in-house designer but I want to start my own company. How should I go about it? Your advice on setting an hourly rate was very helpful.

Never worked for a company, I couldn’t find a job at the time, so I started my own company, so I have never worked for anyone else. I’ll post a video shortly to respond in detail about your question.

Yes absolutely, I get full payment before releasing the files. This is a good point, I’ll do a video on it.

Absolutely, I always get anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 deposit.

Would you recommend asking for a deposit or full payment up front? And what do you think about holding back the finished work until receiving full payment?

this helped me out a lot. its really hard to ask people to pay you money when your not sure your worth it. I have no formal business training, and I have a company asking me what my rates are and do I charge by the hour. Its all so unnerving.
