Extract/Quick Mask Mode in CS4 problems?

I recently downloaded the free-trial version of Photoshop CS4 for Mac from Adobe and to my dismay discovered the extract filter was no longer included in the new suite. I downloaded the plug in package from Adobe.com and everything downloaded fine, but when I try to open the Extract filter with CS4, it says that Photoshop doesn’t recognize that type of file.

So, being a bit put off, I tried figuring out how to do something similar to Extract but only found “quick mask mode”. I mostly use Photoshop FOR extractions, and quick mask mode has me terribly confused. Can someone tell me how to fix the whole plug in thing or how to use a similar filter easily?

1. You may not be able to install and/or use plugins with trial versions.

2. But… since you wrote that the program didn’t recognize the file type, I’m thinking that it downloaded as a zip file like a lot of plugins. Do you know if the plugin automatically installed? If it’s a Zipped folder, then you have to extract it and install it in PS’s plugin folder yourself.
