   You can’t, unless it is a layered image created with the necklace separate. You need to remove the necklace, then zoom in and re-touch the background.

   What are you trying to remove? If it is a bump or something, you can just “smudge” over it…or use your blending tool. If it is a person, I would just say crop it to take them out.

   You need to use the clone stamp tool. You can do this with or without first selecting and masking the necklace.

   To select the necklace, try the Magic Wand (near the top of the tools palette… looks like a magic wand). Once you’ve gotten the basic outline of it selected (you can fine tune the sensitivity with the tool options) you can zoom in and modify the selection more with other selection tools (ie the box). This will allow you to get a pixel-perfect selection of the necklace.

   Use different combinations of the CTRL and ALT keys while clicking, to allow you to add/subtract from the initial selection area you did with the wand.

   CS3 gives you some tools to allow you to refine the selection area, which you might want to try out. The antialiasing options usually assist.

   Once you’ve selected the necklace area, you can use the clone tool (looks like a stamp) to paint over the necklace with skin. Select the clone tool, then select the source (skin) area with ALT-click. Then paint your skin texture over the necklace.

   Well, I guess you won’t be getting any answers from gay people with a comment like that! ;-> And I’m sure there are some who could give you a much better answer than this one…

   In any case, you will need to clone areas adjacent to the chain by using the Healing tool (looks like a band-aid), mayb first using the Replace mode then the Normal mode to smooth out your changes if it’s against a uniform background.

   BTW, the reason your computer won’t load some videos has nothing to do with being “gay”, it’s most likely because you don’t have the proper media player installed for the video file type you want to view.

   The thing is, you can’t, because there is no background as such. The picture is a single layer and if you remove a pixel of the necklace then you just leave an empty spot. There is no skin layer behind the necklace. A picture is not layered like your clothing. If you take off your jacket, you reveal your shirt. If you take off your jacket in a picture, you just leave a hole. All you can do is copy pixels from an area adjacent to the necklace and paste them in on top of the necklace pixels to replace necklace pixels with skin pixels. Crude, but it can be done. This kind of thing is also known as airbrushing. Magazines do this all the time to remove skin blemishes from photographs. Do you really think all those celebrity magazine cover pictures are all that perfect in real life? You literally use the airbrush tool to paint skin colored pixels over the necklace pixels like the magazines airbrush out things like frown lines, wrinkles and freckles.

   You can use either the “Clone Stamp” or the “Patch” tool.

   Clone Stamp: Put this tools brush right along side of the necklace and hold the Alt key down, the brush will turn into a little circle. If the circle is to big or to little, adjust it with the bracket keys. Left bracket for smaller and the Right bracket key for larger. With the Alt key down, make one left mouse click. This will copy the area in the little circle. Now release the Alt key, move the curser over an area of the necklace that is close to the area that you copied and left click. This will “paste” the copied ares over the necklace. continue this until the necklace is gone.

   Patch Tool: Select the Patch Tool and then draw a selection around the necklace by holding the left mouse button down. You must make a complete selection, ie, the ends of the seslected area must come together. Next, put your curser in the selection and left click. Now move the selection to an area right next to the necklece and release the mouse button. The area of the necklece that you selected should change to the area that the selection tool copied.

   After you have over written all of the area that you wish to change, in this case, the necklece, you may want to edit your work a little by using a little smuge or blur. Either of these tools can do a pretty good job of cleaning up. You can change their opacity and pressure in the tool bar.

   Play around some. That’s how we learn Photoshop. Remember, if you make a mess of your graphic, just throw it away and go get another copy and start over.

   Good luck. Photoshop can be one of the most fun programs that a person ownes. If you are interested in really learning the program, contact your local comunity college, most of them have a corase on photoshop.

   1 cut the necklace using the pen tool

   2 Hide the necklace now in the layers pallets

   3 now take the Clone Stamp tool (Shortcut “S”)

   4 Start cloning it first Alt-Click the skin colour you want to smudge and then start doing the same

   Simple and easy
